Three Chicago-based businesses to check out:
Chicago Center for Green Technology is a city-owned demonstration project of all things green. It is the first municipal LEED platinum rehabilitation site—formerly an illegal landfill—with a green roof and solar arrays.
PortionPac is a 40 year old commercial cleaning company manufacturing products with the use of the Sustainability Helix, a project of the Chicago Manufacturing Center and Natural Capitalism Solutions.
Rancho Verde is the site of Christy Webber Landscapes, a new LEED Gold development with three forms of renewable energy, solar thermal, geothermal and wind. In addition to green building features, the company also has socially conscious employment practices through use of many nonprofit employment and training programs.
