Community Outreach Internship
The Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT) is looking for Community Outreach Interns to work with Energy Impact Illinois, a government program offering cost-saving incentives to Chicago area homeowners of all income levels to reduce energy consumption in their homes. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent Energy Impact Illinois
- Assist in organizing and staffing neighborhood events, community meetings and home energy parties
- Research leads in the community
QUALIFICATIONS
- Able to clearly present the program and answer questions in 1:1 meetings and to large and small groups
- Able to initiate leads, organize tasks and complete work in a timely manner
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to commit 1-2 hours a week to this position
- Interest in sustainability, community development/organization and/or non-profit work
- Access to a car is preferable, but not necessary

Chicago Department of Transportation: Planning Chicago’s Bikeways. Help plan innovative on-street bikeways in Chicago! Be part of the team implementing the Bike 2015 Plan and Mayor Emanuel’s plan to make Chicago a leader in the creation and expansion of separated bike lanes. Help plan these bikeways and upgrade existing bikeways to encourage bicycling as a practical, non-polluting, and affordable mode of transportation. Work will be carried out at the Chicago Department of Transportation’s downtown offices and in the field throughout Chicago.

Union of Concerned Scientists: Scientific Integrity Research Intern/Fellow. In coordination with the SIP research team, the SIP Research Intern investigates . As the person responsible for coordinating a network of thousands of scientists, duties will include a significant amount of scientist and activist cultivation. The Outreach Intern will develop and manage SIP outreach and education projects; write and create materials for target audiences and the website; organize special events and training sessions; and develop and implement rapid response initiatives. As the program is both dynamic and collaborative, the intern will have opportunity to conceptualize take on new projects as they arise. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the ins and outs of community organizing, national media campaigns, science policy, and legislative and administrative reform.
